The latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shows that the country's official reserve assets increased by 4.6% to USD 6,905 million by the end of August 2026. At the end of the previous month, July 2026, this value was recorded at USD 6,600 million.

Foreign currency reserves, which are the main component of these reserve assets, increased by 5.1% during August, rising from USD 6,368 million to USD 6,690 million.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank's gold reserves also achieved a notable growth of 9.5% during the month of August, increasing from USD 192 million to USD 210 million.
