Mr. Andre Fernando, Group Chairman of MAC Holdings (Pvt) Ltd and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA), has been appointed as a member of the Trade Logistics and Hub Operations Advisory Committee of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).

The appointment, effective from 2 August 2026, recognises Mr. Fernando’s extensive experience and leadership in the logistics, freight forwarding and trade sectors.

The Advisory Committee is expected to play a strategic role in supporting Sri Lanka’s export development and policy formulation, as well as the implementation of trade development interventions. A key focus of the committee will be supporting the implementation of activities under the National Export Development Plan (NEDP) aimed at strengthening export growth.

In addition, the committee will advise the EDB on matters relating to the effective implementation of the provisions of the EDB Act.

Mr. Fernando’s appointment brings his extensive industry experience to the committee, providing an opportunity to contribute valuable private-sector perspectives to initiatives aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s export competitiveness, trade facilitation and logistics capabilities.

His appointment further reflects the growing importance of industry expertise and collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing Sri Lanka’s position as a competitive regional trade and logistics hub.
