An evening of great music with a perfect cup of Coffee
Barista Lavazza together with the Yamaha Music Center recently held an open mic night at the Colombo National Museum outlet. The 31st of May 2014 was a night of good music under the stars accompanied by signature good food off the new Barista menu, and was attended by over 100 participants.
Although the weather was a bit of a concern, the rain God’s obliged with clear skies and a steady breeze that added to the ambience accentuated by the subtle garden lighting. Barista also introduced a special event promotion “Dark Temptation” to entice the fans gathered to cheer on and sing-a-long wither their favorite performer. A slice of Chocolate Excess cake with two scoops of Vanilla ice-cream topped up with Whipped Cream and Dark Chocolate sauce was the perfect show-stopper for the night.
Some of the better known performers included former OnStage winners Sam Dayarathne and Dilan Jayakody, while Buddhi de Mel and Wagon Park also captivated the audience with their brand of tunes. Manisha Jayasinghe, Madusha Alwis, Arshad Iqbal, Hansa Warnakulasuriya, Lenny and Shenali Vittachchi, Aaron Ray, Yenuka Laknow, and Husni and Sasha also took lease of the stage during the night, each with a versatile performance that added to the allure of the entire show. The enthusiastic performers had the audience captivated well beyond the original timing, and were rewarded with not only appreciative applause but also goodies from Barista as a token of appreciation for making the event such a huge success.
All sound equipment and musical instruments were sponsored by Yamaha Music Center, the pioneer musical and sound equipment provider in the country. Commenting on partnership, Brand Manager for Barista Lien Keerthisinghe notes, “We are very proud to have partnered with Yamaha to provide the highest quality sound equipment for this first of its kind event. Yamaha is synonymous with excellent sound quality and an outdoor event like this certainly needed the best. We would also like to thank the management of Laksala for their support in staging the event.”
Barista is now looking forward to organize the open mic nights more frequently and also giving more gifted young performers a stage to display their talents.
