Amãna Bank recently donated medical equipment to the Children’s Ward at the Colombo South (Kalubowila) General Hospital to facilitate the timely treatment of the patients who are suffering from the recent dengue epidemic. The donations were made by the Chief Executive Officer of Amãna Bank, Mr Mohamed Azmeer, to the Director of Colombo South Teaching Hospital Dr Asela Gunawardena with the participation of consultant doctors and nurses of the ward.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr Azmeer said “Having maintained the Children’s Ward since 2006, we are happy to get involved in the curing the patients during such an outbreak. Based on our banking model, we believe that being responsible towards society is as important as making profits and gains. We hope that this equipment will help the speedy recovery of the children in the ward and at the same time appreciate the dedication and commitment made by the hospital staff in taking care of them.”
Also sharing his thoughts Dr Gunawardena said “We are very happy to note the continued commitment of Amãna Bank towards the hospital and in this instance for voluntarily coming forward to donate medical equipment at a critical time like this to help the hospital in providing timely treatment to the dengue patients.”
