Champion driver Ashan Silva continued to dominate on the tarmac once again at the “Kandy Speed @ Night 2014” and drove a race that was true to his indomitable spirit. Despite recent setbacks Ashan clocked the fastest timing for SLGT and the fastest timing for the day of 44.52 seconds, and went on to win the event beating Dilan Seneviratne and Janaka Dias.

“Kandy Speed @ Night 2014” was jointly organized by the Kandy Off Road and Adventure Club, and the Carlton Motor Sports Club on the 28th of June 2014. The race track spanned from the old Bogambara Prison and extended towards the Kandy Fire Brigade office, the Central Market, around the Clock Tower and back towards the Prison.

Although this was his 1^st time at the races in Hill capitol, Ashan was able to display his amazing racing skills adding extreme thrills for the spectators and viewers all around the island watching live on CSN. By winning that night Ashan has also become a household name and is arguably the best racer in the current racing circuit.

Commenting on the win Ashan notes, “The last few months have been extremely difficult for me in terms of the amount of negative publicity that has been thrown my way. Amidst all that I am happy to be able to continue to entertain my dear fans to the highest level by doing my best at all times. Also, I am extremely happy to have won at KNR in style as it was my brother’s (who is my inspiration) first time watching me live on a track race and I believe it was a priceless moment for him as well. My family and loyal fans have rallied around me and supported me without a doubt. This win is for them.”
