Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (31) noted that Sri Lanka is now safe for tourists and security has returned to normalcy in the country.
“There have been a big drop in the government revenue, when more tourists coming in, the economy will pick up. Since the unfortunate and tragic incidents that took place on Easter Sunday, we have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure safety in the country. Sri Lanka is on its way back to normalcy,” the Premier said, whilst addressing a press briefing in Colombo yesterday.
Speaking further Wickremesinghe emphasized upon number of relief measures that has been introduced by the government in order to promote tourism.
“Many measures have been taken, including free visas on arrival, reducing taxes to lower room rates, reducing in ground handling charges and fuel charges for airlines at the airport. All these measures will make it easier for tourists” he added.
