A stimulating discussion on how to harness technology to boost economies will take place at the Sri Lanka Economic Summit (SLES) 2019.

The discussion will be led by two eminent experts in the field, Mr. Sanjay Jain, Partner at Bharat Innovation Fund & Chief Innovation Officer at CIIE, IIMA, and Mr Jan Metzger, Head of Asia Pacific Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory, Citi Bank. Mr. Jain was among the key individuals who worked on developing India Stack — technology which resulted in building Aadhaar authentication, and other paperless and cashless innovations across India. Mr. Metzer has worked on Voice Recognision systems, and, in 2000, started Technology Investment Banking in Europe.

The panel, Technologies Transforming Economies, will provide in-depth commentary and insights on the technologies having a direct impact on the economy.

The session will also look at understanding what technologies can be harnessed to transform economies, and then degree of these transformations. The discussion will relate to Sri Lanka’s own progress in adopting these technologies where relevant, and on improving the country’s digital infrastructure.

Panelists for the session will be Mr SupunWeerasinghe, CEO, Dialog Axiata PLC; Mr BingumalThewarathanthri , CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Sri Lanka; Dr PandulaSiribaddana, Senior Lecturer, Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, UOC; Ms VidhyaGanesan, Partner, Mckinsey& Company, Singapore and Dr.SanjivaWeerawarana, Founder Chairman, WSO2. Mr JeevanGnanam, CEO, Orion Development (Pvt) Ltd will moderate the event.
