Bandula’s substitute for coconut oil

March, 26, 2021

The Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena stated that soybean oil can be used instead of coconut oil and that soybean oil is being sold at lower prices throughout Sri Lanka through Sathosa outlets, promoting local soybean cultivation.

The Minister made this statement in Parliament today (26).

"As a substitute for coconut oil, local soybean cultivation has been popularized and pure soybean oil is now being sold at Sathosa outlets throughout Sri Lanka at lower prices than imported coconut oils available in the market through the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation. We have introduced soybean oil to the market as a substitute for coconut oil from the oil we grow by cultivating soybeans in our country at a lower price", said the Minister.
