State Minister Tharaka Balasuriya, inaugurates the virtual B2B matchmaking session between Sri Lankan and Ukrainian business community

State Minister of Regional Cooperation Tharaka Balasuriya, inaugurated the business networking and matchmaking session organized between the members of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce virtually on 20 January 2022. This event is a follow up event arranged subsequently to the State Minister’s visit to Ukraine last year.

State Minister Tharaka Balasuriya addressed the gathering and  emphasized the importance of exploring more potential avenues of cooperation available between the two countries in terms of tourism, agricultural products, ICT sector, Research & Development related investments. Further the State Minister indicated that due to the Free and Preferential Trade Agreements that Sri Lanka has entered with neighboring partner countries, Ukrainian companies are able to reach larger market opportunities available in the region by using the concessions granted to Sri Lanka.

President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Gennadiy Chyzhykov and Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Vish Govindasamy also addressed the session and emphasized the importance of regular interactions between the members to exploit untapped potential especially  trade, investment & tourism.

100 Sri Lankan and Ukrainian companies participated at the Business matchmaking session and the participant companies were categorized under three main areas namely agricultural products, Tourism & hospitality sector & Industrial product sector.

Rizvi Hassen, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Turkey, accredited to Ukraine, AmbassdorIgor Polikha,Ambassador of Ukraine to India, accredited to Sri Lanka and Director General of State Ministry of Regional Cooperation Savitri Panabokke also attended the virtual event.
