ACCA and SLTC signs MOU

Accredited as the largest and fastest growing global professional accountancy body, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sri Lanka, signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU)with the Sri Lanka Technological Campus ( SLTC), the only corporate powered, research-based, degree awarding, higher education institute in Sri Lanka.

With the demand for those with financial and technological acumen outstripping supply, ACCA and SLTC expressed their confidence in the association, with both parties strongly believing that new beginnings such as this MOU will be one of the key steps undertaken in contributing towards the progress of both professions that will help produce a highly skilled and productive workforce for the country.

The MOU covers a number of initiatives that range from academic activities and placing emphasis on the two educational entities partnering in knowledge sharing and in giving opportunities to both students of ACCA and SLTC to benefit from training programmes and workshops that will be organized on areas of common interest, as well as both entities engaging in capacity building initiatives that will be of mutual benefit to students of both ACCA and SLTC .

“In the era of big data, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics, the finance function can increasingly add business value through greater accuracy, efficiency and strategic insight by using these technologies for their finance predictions. As such, I believe this MOU will pave the way for ACCA students who will be future finance leaders, to gain the right mix of digital skill sets and business intelligence that compliment their ACCA qualification” stated Mr. Ranjith Rubasinghe, Founder President and CEO of SLTC “adding that the students of SLTC will in turn greatly benefit from gaining the globally renowned ACCA qualification as good financial literacy can help them succeed in any area of business.

He further emphasized that with SLTC being one of the leading research intensive Institutes in the country, the MOU can give an opportunity for both organizations to collaborate and conduct research initiatives in areas that will relate to enhancing and uplifting the status and quality of both professions.
