AIC Campus partners with Belarusian National Technical University of Belarus to launch Engineering Degree Completion Programme in Sri Lanka

AIC Campus, a member of the IMC AIC Education Consortium and a leading transnational education provider, officially announced the launch of Engineering Bachelor’s Degree Completion Programme in Sri Lanka, partnering with the prestigious Belarusian National Technical University of Belarus (BNTU) which is among the top 350 Universities in the world.

This landmark partnership makes it another first in the Sri Lankan private education sector for AIC. The launch event held at Cinnamon Grand Colombo was graced by Prof. Heorhi Viarshyna (First Vice-Rector), Dr. Igor Satikov (Director – BNTU International Institute of Distance Education)   Dr. Sanjayadewa Munasinghe, Chairman AIC Campus, Dr. Gishan Sumanasiri, Executive Director/CEO AIC Campus and officials of AIC Campus and BNTU.

The four year degree programme is structured in three major areas which are civil engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial robotics. The engineering students at AIC will greatly benefit from the quality, up-to-date course material and the world-class panel of lecturers will bring knowledge as well as international learning exposure into classrooms.

The UGC (University Grants Commission) recognized programme is structured to help undergraduates to gain the skills most valued in the local and global engineering sector and it will further enhance their leadership skills, confidence, decision-making skills, and a strong foundation in business principles.  Students are also provided paid internship opportunities in second year as well as in third year, making the coursework more unique. AIC will provide complete guidance and support throughout the Program. The first intake of student will happen in May 2017.

With today’s official announcement, National Technological University of Belarus becomes the first European state university to offer engineering degrees and also the only four-year Engineering Degree offered by a private institution in the country through a state university in Europe.

Commenting about the official launch of the Degree Completion Programme in Sri Lanka, Prof. Heorhi Viarshyna, First Vice-Rector, Belarus National Technical University of Belarus said, “We are excited about our partnership with AIC Campus in Sri Lanka. Remarkably, it is our first International study Centre in south Asia and we believe BNTU degree programs are going to provide a unique learning opportunity for Sri Lankan students and transform them into true global engineers.”

The Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) is one of the leading technical universities in Belarus and the CIS region. The BNTU has been training engineers since 1920 and comprises of 17 faculties offering high-quality training in 89 specialties and 121 specializations. Students who have sat for local or London A/Level examination in Math stream meet the entry criteria of the BNTU can apply for the Engineering Degree Completion program. Students who wish to pursue the programme but have only completed O/Level examination can start their Journey in engineering education by joining the Foundation in Engineering and Technology (FITE) at AIC Campus. AIC Campus will also offer special BNTU Scholarships for Students with exceptional A/Level Results and who have taken part in extracurricular activities.
