Allianz Lanka in partnership with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society delivers education support to children impacted by the Ditwah Cyclone, as part of Allianz SE’s regional disaster relief funding across Asia.
The project, funded under the first tranche of Allianz SE’s regional disaster relief commitment in Asia, includes a €200,000 allocation to Sri Lanka within a broader €600,000 programme spanning Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Indonesia.
As part of the initiative, 4,315 educational packs have been distributed to school children across the three districts, reaching 8 schools in Polonnaruwa, 5 GN divisions in Anuradhapura, and 21 schools in Puttalam. Each pack includes essential learning materials such as exercise books, CR books, a mathematics box, pens, pencils, erasers, and a school bag, equipping students with the tools needed to return to their studies with confidence.
In addition, stationery and toy kits have been provided to children attending Early Childhood Development centres, supporting early learning while promoting psychosocial well-being during the recovery period. The initiative was implemented through a coordinated approach involving assessment, distribution, and monitoring to ensure timely and accountable delivery of assistance.
By prioritizing both education and emotional recovery, Allianz Lanka and the Sri Lanka Red Cross are helping children regain a sense of normalcy in the aftermath of the Ditwah Cyclone. The initiative reflects a continued commitment to building resilience in communities and empowering young lives to learn, heal, and move forward with renewed hope.
