AmCham hosts Business Breakfast with Mr. Duminda Ariyasinghe, Director General, BOI

Mr. Duminda Ariyasinghe, Director General, BOI met with the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka recently.

 

The closed-door meeting focused on key aspects such as the initiatives introduced by the Government and BOI to strengthen the investment climate; priority sectors identified according to the Government Vision 2025; FDI performance in 2017 and targets for 2018; BOI’s promotional activities for 2018 and working more closely with AmCham and the BOI’s vital One-Stop-Shop set up to handle project investment approvals seamlessly.

 

The meeting also featured an open Q&A session, where participants were able to openly discuss and highlight key issues being faced in their respective industries.

 

Mr. Andres Wirz, Managing Director, Swissphoton Pvt Ltd, a participant at the event stated, “We had a very interesting exchange with Mr. Duminda Ariyasinghe as well as the others participating. This kind of closed-door meeting is extremely helpful to us. I was able to highlight certain issues I was grappling with, and being able to bring that up at this meeting, led to it subsequently being solved within that very day!”

 

The membership of the AmCham in Sri Lanka extends to over 500 members who represent over 250 leading Sri Lankan and American companies. Founded in 1992, the AmCham is a dynamic and influential business chamber in the country, promoting activities to encourage and stimulate investment by US companies, supporting the ongoing business operations of its members and encouraging bilateral trade between the US and Sri Lanka.
