June, 18, 2014

Reforms in State enterprises and increasing State revenue are crucial factors in sustaining Sri Lanka’s long term economic growth, points out the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Towards these, several State owned enterprises need to reformed in order to increase their efficiency, financial stability and management, ADB President Takehiko Nakao said in Colombo today.

He said that the Water Supply & Drainage Board [NWS&DB] is a good example to this since it does not charge the consumers for a major part of the water provided and that if this issue is resolved the Board could cover its expenditure and also save for future investments.
