KALBE, through its flagship nutritional brand Diabetasol, hosted the Diabetasol High Tea Event on Friday, 27 March 2026, at the Celestine Ballroom, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, Colombo.
The event brought together 50 loyal Diabetasol customers and representatives from leading media houses for an evening that focused on driving home the message that a diabetes diagnosis is not the end of a full, active and enjoyable life, but rather the beginning of a more mindful, empowered way of living.
Themed "Thriving with Diabetes", the event was hosted to shift the cultural conversation around diabetes from one of restriction and compromise to one of empowerment, education and celebration. Guests were shown that managing diabetes does not always mean giving up on the joy of eating or connecting with others.
The key highlight of the evening was a moderated expert panel discussion under the pretext of Balanced Living: Nutrition, a positive mindset and being active in a fun way. The panel brought together two specialists whose insights spanned the clinical and the deeply personal dimensions of living with diabetes.
Registered Dietitian Parami Weerasinghe, Senior Nutritionist at Heracle Care & Wellness, addressed the nutritional foundations of blood sugar management, debunking common myths about sugar and sweeteners, the role of low-glycemic index foods in daily life, and offered practical strategies for reading food labels and portion control.
Complementing this, counselling psychologist Anjali Budawatta Jayawardana, a mental health advocate and public speaker, brought a dimension often absent from diabetes conversations: the emotional and psychological toll of chronic condition management. The discussion explored how mindset, routine and social support are as critical to managing diabetes as diet and medication.
“Managing diabetes well is as much a mental discipline as it is a physical one. When patients understand that emotional health and blood sugar management are deeply connected, outcomes improve significantly,” said Anjali Budawatta Jayawardana, Counselling Psychologist
Guest Chef Nadee Amarasinghe, known for her expertise in health-conscious culinary experiences, took to the live cooking station to demonstrate that Diabetasol can be seamlessly and deliciously incorporated into everyday recipes. She showcased how simple ingredient choices and thoughtful preparation can transform a diabetes-friendly meal into a genuinely indulgent experience, challenging the persistent misconception that eating well with diabetes must be flavourless or joyless.
In one of the event's most memorable and uplifting moments, all present loyal Diabetasol customers joined a live dance therapy session, guided by Nilaksha Prasad, Founder of Shadow Dance Academy and specialist in dance therapy for health and wellbeing. Dance therapy is a recognised therapeutic modality: regular rhythmic movement improves insulin sensitivity, supports cardiovascular health, and significantly benefits mood and mental wellbeing.
“The Diabetasol High Tea Program is our way of saying to every customer who has made this brand a part of their daily life: we see you, we appreciate you, and we are committed to walking this journey with you. Today was proof that living well with diabetes is not just possible; it is something worth celebrating,” said Kishan Canagasabey, the Head of Nutrition Business, KALBE.
Seeing every loyal customer on their feet, moving together, was a powerful visual embodiment of the event's theme: that living with diabetes is not about standing still. The energy in the room was extraordinary, and the session reinforced KALBE's commitment to addressing the whole person rather than just the condition.
