Billionaire Dhammika Perera donates Rs.70mn to combat COVID-19

As the number of confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases continues to rise, something else is starting to happen around the world – entrepreneurs, businesses and multimillionaire philanthropists are pledging their support.

Sri Lankan Billionaire Dhammika Perera has also joined this battle against preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the country, with a pledge to donate from his personal funds Rs.70 million worth of urgent healthcare facilities.

An air fright order had been placed for 6 ICU ventilators for the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH), 485 hospital beds including 169 ICU beds.

Dhammika will be the first business leader to join and support President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to combat COVID – 19.

Donated equipment as follows;

1.Double funtion manual child beds( A-147B &A-147-1)-80

2.Single funtion manual child beds -85

3.Three funtion child bed ICU-25

4.Five funtion manual bed ICU-144

5.Single funtion manual bed -151

Total 485 hospital beds

As of today (22), the Covid-19 case tally in the country stands at 76. According to the report published by the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry yesterday morning (21), 245 patients are under observation at selected hospitals on suspicion of being infected with the virus.
