Binance recently announced it is expanding access to bStocks collateral functionality, enabling all eligible users to use supported tokenized stock assets as collateral for futures and margin trading, subject to applicable haircuts, collateral ratios, account requirements and applicable regulatory guardrails.

Previously available to VIP 3 and above users, bStocks collateral support now extends to all eligible users, including non-VIP users. Supported bStocks can be used as collateral for eligible margin and futures trading across Cross Margin and Portfolio Margin accounts. The expansion gives users several new ways to deploy tokenized stock holdings:

• Leveraged acquisition: Users may borrow quote assets to purchase bStocks in Cross Margin account or Portfolio Margin account, amplifying market exposure with up to 5× leverage.
• Stock conversion: Existing stockholders can convert their stocks to bStocks, expanding utility within the crypto ecosystem while remaining eligible for dividend distributions.
• Dual-use collateral and hedging: In a Portfolio Margin account, bStocks can serve simultaneously as collateral and as the hedge for futures short positions. A user holding Tesla bStock, for example, can borrow USDT against it while opening a TSLAUSDT futures short to hedge downside risk — all without posting additional collateral.

As tokenized assets evolve, their utility is defined not only by what users can trade on an always-on 24/7 basis, but by how those assets can be deployed across collateral, margin, liquidity, and risk management workflows.

“The powerful use case is that users do not need to think about tokenized equities and crypto positions as separate portfolios,” said Shunyet Jan, Head of Exchange and Trading at Binance. “They can maintain continuous exposure to a sector or ETF-linked bStocks while using those same assets as collateral to manage risk or pursue tactical opportunities. That is where tokenization starts to become truly useful.”

To help protect users, Binance has introduced additional risk controls for VIP 0–2 accounts holding bStocks as collateral. Accounts that exceed certain risk thresholds may be subject to restrictions, which are automatically lifted once the account returns to a safe risk level. VIP 3 and above users are exempt.

bStocks used as collateral will be subject to applicable valuation haircuts, margin requirements, liquidation rules, asset eligibility limits, and market risk controls.
