May, 7, 2014

In the event a foreigner who has been guilty of a crime in another country wants to invest in Sri Lanka, the decision whether the particular investor is to be allowed to do so would be taken after careful consideration of any such complaints, said the Executive Director of the Sri Lanka Board of Investment’s (BOI) legal branch.

There are no legislations that prevent any such investors entering Sri Lanka, said BOI Legal Branch Executive Director Ms. P.K. Walgama.

The Australian media had reported that there is a complaint against prominent businessman James Packer regarding the world renowned fisticuff he had with an acquaintance of his and that if proved guilty then it could increase his risks on investing in countries like Sri Lanka, Japan, Australia etc.
