CSE suffers biggest one-day drop in history. ASPI drops by 303 points

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of  the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) today (20) recorded the highest drop in a single day in history.

Sri Lanka’s only Capital Market All Share Price Index (ASPI) crashed down by 6.22% of 303.10 points to 4,571.63. Meanwhile, the S & P SL20 dropped by 262.42 points, closing at 1,943.55. Accordingly, the ASPI fell 6.22% and the S&P SL20 fell 11.90%.

Total turnover for the day was marked at Rs.420.76 million.

Earlier, the highest drop was recorded back in October 12, 2010, when ASPI dropped by 300.59 points.

Meanwhile, the CSE  temporarily suspended regular trading for 30 minutes  from 10.02 am to 10.32 am this morning (20) as S&P SL20 index dropped by 5% during the trading session.
