CSE trading halted for 30 minutes

Regular trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) was temporarily halted for 30 minutes from 10.02 am to 10.32 am this morning (20) as S&P SL20 index dropped by 5% during the trading session.

S&P SL20 index fell 117.60 points or 5.33% to 2,088.37 and the All Share Price Index also fell 2.61% or 127.02 points in early trade to 4,747.71.

However, when regular trading at the CSE recommenced at 10.32 am, All Share Price Index was down by 250.97 points to 4,623.76 while S&P SL20 index indicated a fall of 233.62 points to 1,972.35.

This is a decline of 5.15%% and 10.58%, respectively. The market turnover was Rs. 140 million.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) was reopen for  trading today after a four-day hiatus, however with revised trading hours. Accordingly ,the Regular trading commenced after the open auction at 10 a.m. and close at 1 p.m.
