CSE’s ASPI crosses 7,700 points

The main index of the Colombo Stock Exchange, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) crossed the 7,700 point mark today (15). The ASPI gained 291.34 points (or 3.91%) closing the day on 7,734.57, which is the highest recorded since, 28 February 2011.

Earlier, the highest single-day gain was recorded on 15 February 2020, when the ASPI increased by 255 points.

Meanwhile, The S&P SL20 index, which includes the 20 largest and most liquid stocks also increased by 120.81 points (or 4.34%) to close on 2,902.98.

The market recorded a daily turnover of Rs.12.46 billion.

Moreover, the stock market notched up another new record – the highest number of trades in its history. A total of 60,818 trades were executed today (15), surpassing the previous record of 51,862 trades on Wednesday (13 January 2021).
