DFCC Bank has signed a Master Trade Loan Agreement with the Export-Import Bank of India under its Trade Assistance Programme, expanding the Bank’s capacity to support trade between Sri Lanka and India.
The agreement was signed on 22 September 2026 by Thimal Perera, Director/Chief Executive Officer of DFCC Bank; Prins Perera, Senior Vice President - Treasury and Investment Banking at DFCC Bank; and Sailesh Prasad, General Manager of India Exim Bank. The signing took place in the presence of Devika Lal, Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the High Commission of India.
This marks the first Master Trade Loan Agreement in Sri Lanka between India Exim Bank and DFCC Bank under the Trade Assistance Programme.
Through the programme, India Exim Bank provides credit enhancement for trade instruments, enabling DFCC Bank to support cross-border transactions to Indian markets where trade lines may be limited.
Access to dedicated trade financing through India Exim Bank will strengthen DFCC Bank’s ability to offer competitive short-term funding, facilitate cross-border transactions and support Sri Lankan businesses trading with Indian counterparts.
The agreement is expected to encourage bilateral trade and create further opportunities for businesses in both countries.
