Dollar selling rate drops below Rs. 340

The exchange rate pressure exerted on the Sri Lankan Rupee throughout June 2026 is showing signs of gradual easing. Consequently, a steady decline in the value of the US Dollar has been observed from June 24 until today, July 6.

For the first time since June 23, the selling rate of the dollar fell below the Rs. 340 mark today (July 6). According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the buying rate of a dollar was recorded at Rs. 330.39, while the selling rate stood at Rs. 339.88.

According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the year-to-date depreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee against the US dollar was 7.7 per cent as of 03 July 2026.
