EPF claim of releasing financial reports false says Dr. Harsha de Silva

Though the Employees’ Trust Fund (EPF) claims through advertisements carried out by spending millions of rupees that it has published financial reports from 2011 to 2013, these claims are false says United National Party parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva.

During a media briefing in Colombo on Friday (23 May) the parliamentarian said that what the EPF has released as its financial reports for 2011, 2012 and 2013 through newspaper advertisements are not the complete financial reports but only excerpts from the particular reports.

“These are not financial statements. They are also not reports of accounts. These do not show what is happening in the EPF and the frauds cannot be known,” said Dr. Harsha de Silva while displaying several such advertisements to the media.

The EPF had finally released its 2011 financial reports on 21 May 2014 following his repeated exposure of facts, said the UNP parliamentarian.

“For the first time in the history of the EPF, the Auditor General says that this financial report does not give any accurate explanation of the EPF’s accounts,” charged Dr. de Silva.
