Facilities in South to pay for vehicle revenue license through credit cards, mobile phones

December, 1, 2014

Facilities have been made to enable financial payments through credit cards and mobile phones to obtain vehicle revenue licenses.

These facilities will be made available starting from the Southern Province, says the government owned Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka Limited (ICTA).

ICTA adds that facilities would also be arranged in the Southern Province to obtain revenue licenses through the internet.

Currently, any vehicle owner within the province enjoys the facility to obtain the revenue license from any of the Divisional Secretariats under which the vehicle is registered and they could make the necessary payment through credit cards or mobile phones when obtaining their revenue licenses from these offices.

The online services to obtain vehicle revenue licenses were started within the Western Province and its success made it possible to spread the services to the Southern Province as well, says ICTA.

The Agency adds that in 2014 around one million vehicle revenue licenses have been issued online.

This online facility could be obtained by logging on to the website www.srilanka.lk or www.gov.lk

These services are to be officially inaugurated at a function at Dakshinapaya Ministry Complex at Labuduwa in Galle on 20 December attended by Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge and ICTA Chairman P.W. Epasinghe.
