Following the record depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the Dollar due to the Central Bank deciding to allow the Rupee against the Dollar to be decided in the money market without its intervention, the newly appointed Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake expressed his views.

While speaking to the media this afternoon (04 September) in Colombo, Minister Karunanayake expressed belief that with more investments flowing into Sri Lanka in the future the Rupee would strengthen again.

In the money market, the value of a US Dollar rose by about Rs. 03 today it took the value of around Rs. 138 at close of market.

Yesterday (03 September) at close of market the price of a US Dollar stood at Rs. 134.75.
