Staff of the Finance Ministry and General Treasury has decided to donate a percentage of their salary to the Widows’ and Orphans’ Pension Fund.

Accordingly, the Treasury Secretary S.R. Attygalle has donated 50% of his May salary, a majority of the staff members have donated 25% and 10% of their May salaries while general employees have contributed a day’s pay.

This gesture by the Finance Ministry staff would be a good example for others to emulate as part of strengthening the public sector support amidst challenging times.
