Foreigners pulled out Rs.3,742Mn from Government Securities in a week

The latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka points out that Foreigners had gradually exited from Sri Lanka’s Government Securities (Treasury Bills and Treasury Bonds) and pulled out over Rs. 3,742 million in a week, during the period from 17 July to 24 July 2019.

The value of Government Securities held by foreigners had fallen from Rs.146,052 million to Rs. 142,310 million during the period from 17 July to 24 July 2019.

According to the external sector performance report issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in May 2019, government securities market recorded a net payment of US $ 90 million on a cumulative basis during the first five months of the year.
