Former Malaysian PM Mahathir bin Mohamad in Sri Lanka to launch several projects

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad who holds the reputation of transforming Malaysia into an Economic Tiger of Asia is to arrive in Sri Lanka this evening (09 December).

He is to deliver the keynote address at the Hambantota Conclave 2014 at the BMICH Sirimavo Bandaranaike Hall A and B, a forum which will showcase Asia’s emerging city of opportunity – the proposed city of Hambantota to prospective investors.

Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is to also launch a residential development project at the proposed Hambantota City and also a mixed development project at the Katunayake Export Processing Zone tomorrow (10 December.)

He will be accompanied by Malaysia’s Maju Group of Companies Group Executive Chairman Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed and Quest Ventures Director Dato Patrick Lim and Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

Mahathir bin Mohamad was the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia. He held the post for 22 years from 1981 to 2003, making him Malaysia's longest-serving Prime Minister. His political career spanned almost 40 years.
