Since Sri Lanka has entered into only a few free trade agreements so far it expects to enter into more free trade agreements in the near future, says the Investments Promotion Ministry.

The ministry says that similar to Vietnam increasing its direct foreign investments and exports by entering into free trade agreements, Sri Lanka too would gain the opportunities to increase its direct foreign investments and exports.

While Sri Lanka has already entered into free trade agreements with India and Pakistan work is in progress on such as agreement with China as well.

Sri Lanka's highest import market is India with 18 percent of its total imports. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is the third largest export market to India with 05 percent of its total exports.
