Hambantota’s Shangri-la Hotel moving right as scheduled

Around s75 percent of the construction work on the Shangri-La Hotel now being built in Hambantota is complete and the hotel can be opened as scheduled, Investments Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene told AdaderanaBiz.lk

This means that the hotel could be opened by beginning next year.

The hotel in Hambantota comprises 375 rooms, according to the Hong Kong based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts website.

However, certain media recently reported that Shangri-La is construction lesser number of rooms than it had originally planned in Sri Lanka.

While Shangri-La has changed it original plans of its hotel being constructed in Colombo, it has now decided to increase the number of rooms in Colombo as well.

Shangri-La operates over 80 hotels under its brand name around the world with a capacity of well over 34,000 rooms.
