HNB regrets unauthorized incident at branch and says action taken– Official FB post

In a surprising move without referring to any specific described incidents, one of Sri Lanka’s leading listed Bank - privately owned for the name sake, but also government controlled via state controlled bodies’ share ownership – Hatton National Bank (HNB) in company’s official Facebook page said in three consecutive posts that the “HNB does not condone with sentiments or acts that pose a threat to the morale of citizens of Sri Lanka” referring to an undefined incident that took place in one of the branches of the Bank.

In an initial move on Monday the 21st May 2018 via an evening post, the bank’s official Facebook page said that HNB does not condone with sentiments or acts that pose a threat to the morale of citizens of Sri Lanka. “
As a Bank that stands for all Sri Lankans, our goals, interests and initiatives are all aligned to the vision and greater good of our Country” the bank said adding that they regret if any of the branches have been used in an unprofessional way on acts that don’t reflect the values of the Bank.

“Such matters will be investigated and actions taken as deemed necessary” the bank said.

Thereafter, the second post which was posted to HNB’s official Facebook page on 23rd May night said that “HNB takes very seriously any sentiment or act that is in violation of, or poses a threat to the morale of citizens of Sri Lanka. As a Bank that stands for all Sri Lankans, our goals, interests and initiatives are all aligned to the vision and greater good of our Country.”

The statement further added that the Bank regrets an unauthorized incident that took place recently in one of the branches, which does not reflect the values of the Bank.

“The matter has been investigated and necessary action taken,” the Bank said on Wednesday the 23rd May 2018. The same post was also published in Sinhala on the Bank’s official Facebook on Wednesday.
