Hybrid wave in Sri Lanka pushes back smaller cars

While the registration of hybrid vehicles are increasing in Sri Lanka the registration of smaller cars are decreasing, reveals the latest research report released by a stock broking firm.

This has been revealed in the research report by JB Securities Stock Brokers over the registration of vehicles in Sri Lanka during April 2014.

According to this report, 1,323 Toyota and Honda hybrid cars have been registered in Sri Lanka last April while during the same period in 2013 only 1,108 hybrid vehicles had been registered

However, only 206 smaller cars with a 1,000 cc engine capacity had been registered within April 2014. This number being 546 in April 2013 is significant. Here, registration of Maruti Suzuki cars has declined.

Overall, 1,917 motor cars have been registered in April 2014 compared to the 1,977 in April 2013.

Meanwhile, this report indicates that the registration of other commercial vehicles have decreased during last April.
