Igabara Hobbit House Rakawa Tangalle celebrates fourth anniversary

Igabara Hobbit House Rakawa Tangalle, the first hotel to be built providing the hobbit house experience created by a famous fantasy novel and movie ‘The Lords of the Rings’ celebrated their fourth anniversary recently. The hotel is built on a 95 perch land and was opened in 2019 with one luxury cabana and with the 'Hobbit' concept catching up the investor, 27 years CIMA undergraduate, Hirushan Vijayanga invested in two more luxury cabanas. “Since we are maintaining 99% occupancy for the past eight months I have now decided to reinvest in a fourth luxury cabana in three months.”

“In in a bid to provide more luxury I will also add four individual private swimming pools to each cabana. This would be built and ready by the end of the year and the total investment for the project would then rise up to around Rs. 150 million. I have raised this money with profits generated from the hotel and also 30% through borrowings. The design, name and logo too have now become very popular. I studied many architectural designs of the world and created a mix of all and built this tall structure with Palmyrah leaf roofing which is highly lauded by the guests. I have also created a unique interior design and have added a lot of luxurious furniture to the interior of each room.” Vijayanga stated.The hotel also received a major accolade in 2020 when it was awarded runners up award for ‘Most Popular Hotel’ at by Flame Awards in 2020. In addition, he also received a unique 9.8 rating out of 10 for his hospitality from Bookings.com which is also a rare feat for a hotel of this magnitude. Igabara Hobbit House is located 50 m away from Rekawa lagoon and the beach. It’s also in close proximity to the world famous natural turtle breeding beach for which they arrange excursions. Guests also enjoy kayaking and capture scenic sunset views by walking to the large shallow lagoon. He also has an experienced kitchen staff that prepares both tasty local and western meals.
