INSEE Cement has renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) and the Industrial Engineering Training Institute (IETI), Katubedda, extending one of Sri Lanka’s pioneering industry‑led vocational training initiatives, until 2031.

The renewal of the partnership highlights INSEE’s dedication to long‑term collaboration with NAITA and IETI, affirming a vision to bridge the gap between education and industry.

The skill upliftment programme is enabled by the INSEE Enterprise-based Vocational Education (EVE) Centre, operated through the INSEE Academy in collaboration NAITA and IETI. Since its inception in 2007, the program has grown to become the country’s longest-running industry-partnered education pathway, earning strong recognition for its sustained impact on workforce development over the past 19 years.

Through the EVE Centre, students undertake the 1.5‑year National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 programme, combining classroom learning with extensive industrial training at INSEE’s Puttalam Cement Plant. Specializations in Electrician and General Fitter disciplines are guided by NAITA instructors and INSEE technical professionals, ensuring graduates are industry‑ready and equipped for rewarding careers in manufacturing and engineering. 

The long‑standing collaboration continues to empower G.C.E. Advanced Level qualified youth with nationally recognized technical qualifications and hands‑on industry experience.  In 2026, the programme celebrates its 16th batch, with 24 trainees currently enrolled, comprising 12 Electrician and 12 General Fitter students.

Since inception, the EVE Centre has produced more than 260+ NVQ‑qualified graduates. The partnership’s track record demonstrates the programme’s success in bridging education and employment and strengthening Sri Lanka’s skilled technical workforce.
