InterContinental to return to Sri Lanka with a 307 room property

One of the world’s leading hotel companies, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management contract with Pearl Grand Tower Hotel to bring its flagship InterContinental brand to Colombo, Sri Lanka again. Due to open in 2019, InterContinental Colombo will feature 307 rooms including 47 suites and will be spread across 480,000 sq. ft., with a tower comprising 42 floors will be located in Colombo 3, an important and established commercial area of the city, a report from international publication Hotel News Resource highlights.

Hotel will be located centrally along Galle Road making it easily accessible for guests. Situated in close proximity to international and domestic Airports and 3 km from the city centre and housing meeting and banqueting facilities spread over 12000 sq ft, the hotel will cater to the growing demand for business and leisure accommodation in the city. Furthermore, guests will be spoilt for choice with six dining options including an all-day dining restaurant and three speciality restaurants offering unique culinary experiences to the visitors.

Sudeep Jain, VP of development for Southwest Asia, IHG, said that the move was in line with the company's strategy to grow IHG’s footprint across South West Asia, and expand the presence of the InterContinental brand in key cities and resort destinations in the region. The signing follows the opening of IHG's 1,000th hotel in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa, according to a report from Hotelier Middle East. InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort in Vietnam has 459 guestrooms, suites and villas. These two hotels opened as part of IHG's plans to open 321 hotels with more than 63,500 guestrooms in EMEAA.
