LAUGFS Power PLC, the renewable energy arm of LAUGFS Holdings Limited, has recently strengthened its clean energy portfolio with the successful commissioning of the Kehelgamu Oya 2 MW Mini Hydro Power Project in Ginigathhena.

The project has been developed by PAMS Power (Pvt) Ltd, a project company under LAUGFS Power PLC. Designed as a run-of-the-river mini hydropower facility, the plant generates clean and sustainable electricity by harnessing the natural flow of Kehelgamu Oya while supplying renewable energy to Sri Lanka’s national grid.

With an expected annual generation capacity of approximately 7–8 GWh, the project is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the country’s renewable energy sector. The initiative will support Sri Lanka’s long-term objectives of reducing dependence on fossil fuel-based power generation, improving energy security, and promoting environmentally responsible development.

The Kehelgamu Oya Mini Hydro Power Project has been equipped with state-of-the-art hydro mechanical machinery supplied by VS Hydro, together with high-quality generator systems and electrical panel boards sourced from Germany. The integration of advanced technology and internationally sourced equipment is expected to support efficient, reliable, and safe operation of the plant throughout its long-term service life.
