Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has received the major share of its match fee for participating at the ICC Twenty20 World Cup Cricket Tournament where Sri Lanka ended as champions, said SLC treasurer Nuski Mohamed.

SLC which had recorded losses last year would be able to record some gain this year, said Nuski Mohamed.

Apart from this, the prize money for the winning Twenty20 World Cup winning Sri Lankan team had been received recently, he said.

It was reported recently that the total prize money including the USD 1.5 million provided SLC, the USD 1.1 million prize money for winning the tournament and the match fee of USD 200,000 that would go to the 15 players named for the tournament is worth around USD 2.8 million.

Accordingly, it is estimated that each player who participated at this tournament would receive nearly Rs. 250 lakhs each.

“SLC was profitable in 2012. However, last year it incurred losses. We believe that we could gain a small profit by end this year,” said Nuski Mohamed.

He said the prize money for winning the ICC Twenty20 World Cup would be received in about a month.
