Modi’s fortune rubs off on Sri Lankan exporters too

May, 16, 2014

While the Narendra Singh Modi led Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) is on a massive winning spree at the Indian general elections, the Indian Rupee is appreciating as against the US dollar, state the Indian media.

The reason has been attributed to the increase in investments in the Indian stock and exchange markets due to the increasing faith on the new political changes.

This has resulted in the increased flow of dollars into the country thus appreciating the Indian Rupee.

The appreciation of the Indian Rupee is advantageous to Sri Lankan exporters since this would cause a downward trend on the prices of Sri Lankan exports and an increase in their demand.

Narendra Modi has already obtained the majority needed to become India’s next Prime Minister.
