University of Moratuwa's Falcon E Racing, Sri Lanka's pioneering Formula Student electric racing team, is set to compete at Formula Student Spain 2026, one of the world's most prestigious student motorsport competitions. A contingent of 32 students and two lecturers has departed for Spain to represent Sri Lanka at the event.
Supporting the team's international campaign, Advantis Group, the transportation and logistics arm of Hayleys PLC, is enabling Falcon E Racing's journey to Spain as its Official Logistics Partner and Platinum Sponsor.
Organised at the iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Formula Student Spain is one of the premier competitions in the globally renowned Formula Student series, bringing together university teams from around the world to design, build and race formula-style vehicles while showcasing engineering innovation, technical excellence and teamwork.
Representing the University of Moratuwa, Falcon E Racing has consistently pushed the boundaries of engineering innovation in Sri Lanka. Since its inception in 2017, the team has achieved several notable milestones, including qualifying among the top teams at Formula Student Germany in 2019, securing second place overall at the virtual Formula Student Bharat competition in 2022, unveiling Sri Lanka's first Formula Student electric race car in 2023, finishing among the top ten teams at Formula Bharat 2024, and introducing its next-generation race car, Falcon E2, in 2025.
The team's participation at Formula Student Spain 2026 marks another important milestone in its journey to compete alongside some of the world's leading engineering universities.
As Official Logistics Partner, Advantis is managing every stage of the international movement of Falcon E Racing's race car and supporting equipment. The operation encompasses shipment planning, cargo preparation and specialised handling, export and import documentation, customs clearance, coordination with international logistics partners, delivery to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as well as the return of the vehicle and equipment to Sri Lanka following the competition.
The project highlights Advantis' expertise in managing complex, time-sensitive logistics operations that demand precision, technical capability and seamless international coordination.
