Motor vehicle imports to Sri Lanka drop by 41.5% during 2016

The expenditure incurred on motor vehicle imports into Sri Lanka during 2016 was 794.8 million US dollars, indicates a recent report on the activities of the foreign unit released by the Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

Meanwhile, the expenditure on motor vehicle imports during 2015 has been 1,359.6 million US dollars and accordingly, this amount has dropped by 41.5 per cent during 2016 as against 2015.

Furthermore, 58.3 million US dollars have been spent on motor vehicle imports during December 2016, which is a drop of 11.2 per cent when compared against the 65.7 million US dollars spent during December 2015.
