Headline inflation as measured by the yearon-year (Y-o-Y) change in the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI, 2021=100) decreased to 2.5 per cent in March 2024 from 5.1 per cent in February 2024.

This was mainly driven by the monthly decrease in prices of items in the Non-food  category.

Accordingly, Food inflation (Y-o-Y) remained unchanged at 5.0 per cent level March 2024 while Non-food inflation (Y-o-Y) decreased to 0.7 per cent in March 2024 from 5.1 per cent in February 2024.
