The Urban Development Authority (UDA) is preparing to construct a new four-lane highway in Battaramulla in a bid to ease the present traffic congestion.

While speaking to AdaderanaBiz, UDA Deputy Director – Planning Ms. Priyani Navaratne said that the first phase of this project would be from Polduwa Junction along the main road near Diyatha Uyana or Waters Edge and pass the rear of Sethsiripaya up to Subuthipura.

“We have chosen a local contractor for the construction. Work on this road will begin soon after the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year ends,” Ms. Navaratne said.

The second phase of this road would be up to Koswatte in Battaramulla.

“There are plans to extend this road further from Koswatte to the Defence Services Headquarters being constructed at Akerugoda in Battaramulla,” Ms. Navaratne added further.
