May, 4, 2015

Work on the much-discussed Kandy-Colombo Expressway would begin before the end of this year, Highways & Investment Promotion Deputy Minister Eran Wickremaratne told www.adaderanabiz.lk

This has been named the Central Expressway Project and one section under this project is planned up to Dambulla, said the Deputy Minister.

In 2002, a Malaysian company has had discussions with the then United National Party (UNP) government over the Kandy-Colombo Expressway.

The Kandy-Colombo Expressway is expected to begin from the Outer Circular highway’s Kadawatha intersection and end at Katugastota which is a distance of 99 kilometres.

The proposed Expressway is to be constructed up to Katugastota via Kadawatha and Ambepussa.
