July, 30, 2014

The Commissioner of the Department of Motor Traffic is preparing to utilize a special note on the drivers’ licenses for a special evaluation in the future for those engaged in driving passenger buses and vans.

While commenting on this programme, Commissioner General of Motor Traffic S.H. Harischandra told adaderanabiz.lk that this special evaluation would be provided by the department to those passenger vehicle drivers who attend the training programme by the department in the near future.

A training in technology, first aid, maintenance etc would be pervaded during this training and the curriculum for this training is being prepared now, said Mr. Harischandra.

The first among these two-day programmes is to begin in August.

“We are taking steps to add a special note ‘PT’ on the driving licenses of these drivers after their training. This will make the duties of the police easier. Through this note we expect to give an assurance that the particular drive has undergone a systematic training,” said the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic.
