The United States Embassy in Colombo is transitioning to a new online appointment service for non-immigrant visa (NIV) starting 7 September.

Nonimmigrant visas allow citizens of other countries to visit the U.S. for short periods of time. The “visitor” visa is a nonimmigrant visa for persons desiring to enter the United States temporarily for business, for pleasure or medical treatment, or combination of both purposes.

The new process is designed to be more convenient user-friendly and has been implemented at U.S. embassies worldwide.
