No decision to handover East Container Terminal to any foreign entity: PM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today (06) assured that the present government has not decided to handover the management or the ownership of the East Container Terminal (ECT) at the Colombo Port to any foreign firm.

"Jaya Container Terminal was delayed under 5 phases and the cranes used for the project have been installed at the East Container Terminal to reduce congestion at the Colombo Port. Our government has not decided to handover the management of the East Container Terminal, in whole or in part, to any foreign company," he said.

The Prime Minister was responding to a question raised by JJB MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake in parliament today (06).
