Omega Line Group to donate 400,000 protective wear to battle COVID-19

With the country facing many challenges during these unprecedented times as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to expand, Omega Line Group which operates under the flagship of Italy-based Calzedonia S.p.A has stepped in to donate 400,000 safety masks to frontline healthcare workers in the fight against the infectious disease.

This contribution comes as a part of a project initiated by the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association (SLAEA) and Joint Apparel Association Forum Sri Lanka (JAAFSL) where around 12 major apparel manufacturers have come together to supply and donate over 2 million protective masks to government medical service personnel.

All companies under its group namely Omega Line Ltd, Sirio Ltd, Alpha Apparels Ltd, and Benji Ltd are engaged in this, with Teejay Lanka PLC providing the major portion of the required fabric. ‘It’s our obligation and responsibility to stand by and help doctors, nurses, and other frontline health care professionals fighting the coronavirus disease. We have taken measures to manufacture and contribute protective masks and clothing across the country. We pay tribute to our healthcare workers for their bravery, dedication and sacrifice,’ said Omega Line group.

The group has also agreed with JAAFSL to manufacture and supply protective clothing and one of its companies have already begun production for the hospitals in the Northern region of the country.

Omega Line group has contributed to the industry as well as the country for the past 21 years, and presently has a workforce of over 13,500 employees with a strong engaging and empowering culture. It plays a pivotal role in many social responsibility activities and sustainability projects.
