There are reportedly 4,030 Prius hybrid vehicle that have been sold to Sri Lanka among the 1.9 million recalled by Toyota recently.

Toyota Lanka General Manager – Services, Matheesha Samaranayake, while speaking to AdaderanaBiz said that this number includes 20 Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles sold by the company in Sri Lanka and some 4,000 others imported direct from Japan by customers.

“We have recalled these vehicles to rectify the faults in our local service centre. These will be rectified in Sri Lanka itself. Toyota Lanka has already rectified around 250 of these vehicles,” Samaranayake added further.

“Furthermore, we even rectify the fault in vehicles directly imported from Japan as well,” he assured further.

Last February, Toyota decided to recall 1.9 million Prius hybrid vehicles to rectify a software fault which caused the vehicles to suddenly lose speed.
