Oxford College of Business was recognized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) for its outstanding volunteer contribution through citizen engagement within the Corporate Sector in Sri Lanka at the UNV50 Country Awards.

Hon. Namal Rajapaksa Minister of Youth & Sports, Minister of Development Co-ordination and Monitoring and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development was the special invitee along with UN dignitaries; Hanaa Singer - UN Resident Coordinator, Robert Juhkam - UNDP Resident Representative and Sharmalee Jayasinghe - UNV Country Coordinator.

The awards ceremony took place in Colombo on the 7th of December 2021 at the Galle Face Hotel. The United Nations Volunteers Sri Lanka presented 50 awards to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development efforts of the country through volunteerism. The event was held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the UNV, the 20th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers and the 10th anniversary of V-Awards and V-Force.

“Among an overwhelming number of submissions, the Oxford College of Business’s contributions over the years to society through volunteerism is indeed noteworthy and is recognized” the UNV statement said.
